Auto insurance explained before you buy it.
California auto insurance pays for injuries and damage you cause, and, if you add it, damage to your own car. State minimum limits are low enough to leave you exposed. We show you what each limit actually pays, then quote California-admitted carriers for your vehicles and drivers.

What does a California auto policy cover?
Five coverages do the work. The first is required, the rest are choices — and the choices are where people get caught short.
Bodily injury and property damage liability
Pays for what you do to other people and their property. California's minimum limits are far below the cost of a serious injury claim, and anything above the limit comes out of your assets.
Uninsured and underinsured motorist
Pays your injuries when the at-fault driver has no coverage or not enough. This is the coverage we most often see set too low or declined entirely.
Collision and comprehensive
Collision repairs your car after an impact. Comprehensive handles theft, glass, fire, and falling objects. Both are subject to your deductible, and lenders require them on financed vehicles.
Rental and roadside
Pays for a rental while your car is being repaired after a covered loss, and for towing. Small endorsements that matter on the day you need them.
Medical payments
Pays medical bills for you and your passengers regardless of fault, up to the limit you choose.
What else do you write for vehicles?
Anything with a motor or a trailer hitch usually needs its own policy, not an add-on to the car.
Classic autos
Collector and classic vehicles are written on an agreed-value form so the figure in the policy is settled before a loss, not argued after one.
Motorcycle
Motorcycle policies cover the bike, your liability, and — where you add it — safety gear and custom parts that an auto policy will not pay for.
Off-road vehicles
Dirt bikes, ATVs, and side-by-sides need their own policy. A personal auto policy does not follow them off the road.
RV & trailers
Motorhomes and travel trailers can be written with liability, contents, and coverage while the unit is parked and lived in.
Boat & yacht
Watercraft policies cover the hull, your liability on the water, and towing, with terms that depend on the size of the boat and where you keep it.
Rideshare
Driving for an app leaves a gap between your personal policy and the platform's coverage. A rideshare endorsement closes it.
Auto coverage in Mexico
A personal auto policy does not follow you across the border. A separate Mexico policy is what the authorities there recognize.
Not sure this is the one? Start with what happened.
Your teenager is about to drive and you need them on the policy.
Your renewal arrived with a higher premium and no explanation of what changed.
You are moving to California and your policies need to move with you.
Your renewal arrived and you want someone to look at it properly.
Why people move their policies here.
What it's like to have one agency for everything.
You'll know what's excluded before you sign
We go through what the policy does not pay for — water backup, roof settlement, ordinance and law, wildfire smoke limits — while you can still change it. Surprises belong before the claim, not after.
The same two people know your whole file
Home, auto, business — it's all with the same office, and the same two people remember your last call. You never start over with someone new or re-explain your house at renewal.
Choices, explained side by side
We're an independent agency. We put several California-admitted carriers next to each other and show you the differences in writing, so the decision is yours to make.
Straight answers, in their words.
“PLACEHOLDER_ verbatim Kevin Cox review pending. Quote as written, including the typo; trim with an ellipsis if needed.”
“PLACEHOLDER_ verbatim Joni Mckamey review pending (names Tony).”
“One call, every policy in the house, and the same person every time.”
The things we can say plainly.
